Embracing Gratitude Amidst Challenges

Stuck I’ve been feeling this way lately. I’ve been dealing with some big physical pain lately and I couldn’t see a way past it.

Was I letting my fears, my doubts, my anxiety get the best of me.

Reality is I do have a painful disability for years I kept ignoring trying to push it away, tuck it under the sheets. Like it didn’t exist I would think maybe it was all in my head. I would push myself harder faster. Be the mom I thought everyone needed me to be, the wife I thought my husband wanted, the friend who showed up even when it hurt too, I didn’t know how to say no.

Deep down, it made me angry, resentful, painful. One day my body said enough,

I stopped asking myself what I really wanted, what did I need.  Several people in my life had been trying to tell me to slow down, trying to help along the way, but I was stubborn was selfish, self-seeking. Wanted things my way, to do things my own way.

I wasn’t willing to listen I wasn’t willing to take that help that was offered, or when it was, I wasn’t ready, have you ever found yourself in a situation like that before?

The warm summer air is ending, and the cool fall morning are settling in, and as I watch an army of ant’s hurry to gather the last morsels of scraps working together marching in a colony working as a uniformed group, each having their part it reminds me that families work together.

You need a community to raise your family. It doesn’t always have to be blood; it can be made up anyway that works but together we make one.

Can you help the fallen friend, neighbor? When is the last time you have checked on that one person you haven’t heard from. You know who I am talking about. The one who says that Ive got this.

What can you do for your fellow man or woman today? When is the last time you have helped an elderly person out and not told someone else about it?

Once I started to make time to sit and look at my own life, take time for the little things, my family laughed at the chaos, breath and rest when I needed to. Enjoy that five minutes of coffee as the sun rises.  Slowly my attitude changed too.

Gratitude can come from anywhere.  What can you be grateful for?

You Matter tomorrow needs you!

Keep getting up.

Recovery is worth it.

You are worth it.

Thanks for letting me share!
